ONE COLLAGE A DAY FOR A YEAR

ArtDesign365 was a daily, reflective exploration of creativity and recontextualization.

Utilizing my collection of raw materials, I spent a full year of daily discipline creating one new piece a day. By free-associating with decades of materials, I could express who I was at that moment, and perhaps better understand what shapes us as human beings. As the possessive connection I had to these physical objects was released, hidden meanings were revealed to me. In creating a year-long visual fabric, these everyday items became magical, dramatic and humorous unconscious signposts.

The project was started on my 35th birthday and stretched for 365 consecutive days. 365 pieces of mixed media on 4” x 4” balsa wood panels. Each day a new piece was completed, scanned and posted online for public viewing as part of the release process here.

ArtDesign365 was installed in its entirety at Wallspace Gallery in June of 2012. Each of the 365 pieces were for sale individually and can be viewed here.

Yes, this is Joan Rivers checking out my nails - but more relevant is that she purchased one of my pieces from the show which I think is pretty cool.
